In the midst of despair…

How do we look up in the midst of despair? When someone gets kicked in the stomach they typically fold over and face the ground. That is sometimes how we feel whenever bad things happen in our lives. Sometimes these wounds are self-inflicted because of words we say and because of actions we take. Sometimes these wounds come from other people or our circumstances. There are two scriptures that come to mind in thinking of this. One of these is Philippians 4:13 which a lot of people know…”I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” This scripture was written when Paul was languishing in prison. He talks there in the verses preceding 4:13 that he is content in all circumstances no matter in good times or bad. Oh, to have the faith of Paul. Another passage is I Peter 5:5-7 which talks of us first humbling ourselves and then God will lift us up to honor at the right time. He goes on to say in verse 7 that we should give all of our cares and worries to God because he cares for us. This action is so difficult isn’t it? We have to release ourselves to God and allow Him to work in and through us.You may be going through a tough time right now, but God is in control and is going to bring you to a better day soon.
