Joy and Amazement
Piggy Backing off of yesterday’s post look at Luke 24:41. The disciples have just been through an incredible weekend of seeing Jesus captured, tried, beaten, and crucified. They now have discovered that Jesus has risen after three days. There is a lot of confusion and the disciples are trying to figure out what has happened. Jesus appeared to the two men on the road to Emmaus.(Lk. 24:13-27) They discover that it was Jesus with them the whole time when he sits with them and dines with them.(Lk. 24:28-31) They immediately get up and run to the disciples who are huddled in Jerusalem.(Lk. 24:32-34)As they are telling the disciples about what has happened Jesus appears to them in the room.(Lk. 24:35-37. Jesus tells them he is not a ghost but is the Son of God and asks them to touch him to prove it to themselves. (Lk. 24:38-40) As they discover this figure in the room is really Jesus, they stand and look at him and are filled with joy and wonder.(Lk. 24:41)
I hope I still look at Jesus and am filled with joy and wonder. I desire to never get to the point where I look at Jesus and not feel anything or that it is just Ho-Hum. If you are looking at Jesus without being filled with joy and wonder. Take some time to read the last 3 or 4 chapters of the book of Luke and remember the Greatest Story ever Told!
