Ready for Now
I was reflecting this morning on Matthew 6:34. Jesus said “to not worry about tomorrow for tomorrow has enough concern of its own.” I realized that while I am trying to prepare for the future I am really only ready for now. I can only be ready for the next step. I can think about where I want to be in 6 months, a year, or ten years from now, but I am not ready yet for that time.
Believing that God directs our paths (Prov. 3:5-6; Jer. 29:11) and prepares our way in front of us, all we can be ready for is right now. Everything that we are going through today is preparing us for tomorrow. All we can control is how we respond right now.
All of this thought brings us to the larger idea that we can only find our way when we trust God fully.
