Day 86

II Samuel 8-10

When David became King and was solidly in place in Israel, he had some critical choices to make. One of the critical choices was how to treat any of the remaining members of Saul’s household. He decided to treat Jonathan’s son graciously when all others might have said to destroy him. When a neighboring kingdom’s king died he decided to treat them kindly by sending a group to show respects to the king’s family. This gesture was rejected and a war broke out. David’s choices were good choices but went against the prevailing view of what many kings might have done in that time period. In your choices that you make are you doing things that others might think different then the prevailing view of most people? Are these choices made to please God? I hope you will choose today to follow Christ by making decisions that are based on His character rather then the character of most people around you.
