In this reading, Job lays out for us to see his self-examination. He tries to remember if he has wronged anyone, lusted after another woman, or abused underprivileged people. The answer seems to be that he has done none of these things and yet he suffers. He cannot figure out why he is being treated by God this way. His question is powerful, “WHY?” Many times we ask the same question of God and yet must always come to the conclusion that God is God and He does as he wishes. We must understand, that even in the midst of difficulty, God is ever present and ever ready to help.
