The faithful follower vs. the fearful. Zedekiah, the king of Judah, wanted to know what God would say about their predicament with the Babylonians staring them in the face, so he asked Jeremiah. Jeremiah said to surrender and be saved. Zedekiah said he was fearful and would not surrender. Ebed-Melech was fearful of what might happen to him but boldly he tried to save Jeremiah from the cistern. Because he was faithful in the face of fear God rewarded him with safety during the destruction of Jerusalem. Today, are you going to be the faithful follower or are you going to be too fearful to follow at all.
